You will never buy store bought packaged taco seasoning again! There is alot of strange ingredients in those packets as well as ALOT of salt! I do use pink Hawaiian sea salt in this recipe but it is much better than regular table salt! Sea salt, especially colored sea salt, provides you with natural iodine and other minerals that refined, bleached table salt does not. There is a BIG difference! Plus, it has more flavor so you don’t have to use as much. Anyway, this taco seasoning is a versatile, easy to make, great addition to your pantry! Feel free to triple or quadruple (or quintuple?) the recipe and store in an airtight container for later use!
Homemade Taco Seasoning
2 Tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp Mrs. Dash chipotle southwest seasoning (or crushed red pepper flakes)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp paprika
3 tsp ground cumin
1.5 tsp freshly ground pink Hawaiian sea salt (if using regular salt, add 2 tsp)
2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Combine spices and use immediately or store in airtight container for future use. Makes about 1/4 cup.
