Healthy Peanut Butter Banana Protein smoothie

peanut butter bananaSo I don’t know about you but I find that alot of recipes for smoothies online that contain peanut butter claim they are “healthy” but are actually very high in calories!

Snobby Wasabi: “Well, duh, peanut butter has 100 calories in one tablespoon!”

Exactly!  So in walks a product that, in my opinion, is a saving grace for peanut butter smoothies everywhere!  Bell Plantation manufacturers PB2, also known as powdered peanut butter which is basically just peanuts with the oil squeezed out of them.  45 calories in TWO tablespoons!  That’s right; two!

It is available in specialty food stores as well as online, either direct from the manufacturer or from various other sites.  Check out their website here: It comes in regular as well as chocolate, which are both welcome additions to any smoothie!

Anywhoo, here is a perfect smoothie to start off your day right!

Peanut Butter Banana Protein Smoothie

½ banana, pre-frozen (see below)

1 Tbsp ground or whole chia

1 Tbsp ground flax

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

3 drops vanilla cream or dark chocolate stevia (optional)

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender or a magic bullet (it will all perfectly fit in one magic bullet cup) and serve immediately. Serves 1.
